Install & Configure RDP on a Mac

Step 1

Open the App Store on your Mac computer and search for 'Remote Desktop' which should yield one app with an orange icon showing two arrows as shown here.

Click Get and then Install. If prompted, authorize using your AppleID credentials to allow the download and install.
Step 2

Once the download and installation have completed, click on Open. You should take this opportunity to also pin the app to your dock for future access.

You will be asked for permission to share data, we recommend clicking 'Not Now'.

You will then be required to grant access for the app to the webcam and microphone (You can turn these off later if you wish). Click Continue and then allow each by clicking OK on the popups that appear.
Step 3

You should now see a window with an 'Add PC' button. Click on this to launch the configuration window.
We will provide you the details to use on this screen but you can view sample configuration by clicking on the second image provided here.

PC Name: Supplied by our team
User account: Leave as 'ask when required' (There is a known bug with saving credentials on a Mac causing your account to be locked.)
Friendly Name: Anything you want, used to recognize the connection.

Click Add to save the connection shortcut.
Step 4

You should now see a 'computer/server list' with the connection we just created. Double click on it to launch the connection. When prompted, enter your credentials (we will have supplied these previously) and click Continue.

You may also be prompted regarding an untrusted certificate. Click Continue to proceed with your login.
